My Professional Philosophy
Everyone deserves the opportunity to engage fully in life, regardless of ability. My approach as an occupational therapist is rooted in mutual respect, adaptability, and collaboration.
Adaptive strategies over “one-size-fits-all” solutions. There is no single “right” way to complete a task—what matters is finding what works best for you. When determining strategies, I consider your physical and mental abilities, as well as your environment.
Disability is not the problem. Lack of accommodation is. There is no shame in being disabled. The burden falls on the world to create accessible environments that support everyone.
I’m here to support, not change you. My role is to help you navigate daily life in ways that align with your strengths, values, and needs.
Self-regulation matters more than compliance. I prioritize strategies that help you feel calm, rather than focusing on you behaving a certain way.
Challenging ourself should feel achievable, not defeating. If you're motivated, I may encourage you to stretch your skills, but I’ll ensure the challenge is manageable.
Problem-solving requires patience and experimentation. I don’t offer solutions until I fully understand the barriers, and I embrace a trial-and-error approach to finding what works.
Caregiver involvement is key. If you rely on caregiver support, their participation in therapy is essential for success.
You are the expert in your own life. I don’t assume to know what’s best for you; instead, I collaborate with you to find solutions that fit.
My goal is not just to help you function better but to help you thrive in a meaningful way. If this approach resonates with you, I’d love to connect!
